Jury finds defendants in Politkovskaya murder case guilty

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports from the Moscow City Court (MCC) that the jury has unanimously found all the defendants in the murder case of the journalist Anna Politkovskaya guilty.

On May 19, the MCC completed the pleadings on the murder case of Anna Politkovskaya, an observer of the "Novaya Gazeta", where the accused persons are four natives of Chechnya: Lom-Ali Gaitukaev, his nephews Rustam, Ibragim and Djabrail Makhmudov, and a former militiaman Sergey Khadjikurbanov.

In the course of the pleadings, the prosecution party asked the jury to find all the defendants guilty and deserving no leniency. The defence stated that the defendants' guilt was not proved, because the motives and the customer of the murder were not established.
