Republican Supreme Court refuses to register Kabardino-Balkarian Human Rights Center

On April 21, the Supreme Court of the Republic of Kabardino-Balkaria annulled the decision by the Nalchik City Court to satisfy a claim of the Kabardino-Balkarian Human Rights Center against the Department of the Russian Ministry of Justice in Kabardino-Balkaria and to register the center. The heart of the lawsuit is that the founders, including journalist and human rights activist Valery Khatazhukov, have been trying to register the Human Rights Center, which is a branch of the All-Russian Movement for Human Rights, in accordance with established procedure for two years already. The center was created and operates in fact, but it is not a juridical person because the Kabardino-Balkarian department of justice hampers the registration by all means. The Supreme Court sent the case for a new trial to the court of first instance. Valery Khatazhukov called the actions of the department of justice "hysterics". The center will prepare a new batch of documents and submit it for registration in the near future, but at the same time it will continue suing the department of justice, the human rights activist said.
