Vladikavkaz: nine persons hold picket against "Electrozink"

On May 4, in Vladikavkaz, nine persons came to the picket to protest against the activities of the metallurgical factory of the Open Joint-Stock Company (OJSC) "Electrozink". Organizers of the picket claimed the failure of the state regulatory authorities to act.

The protest action was held in Victory Square. During the recent similar picket held on April 6, the activists brought to the Square a box to collect funds for soil examination.

"We have collected all the money just a week ago. Now, we are going to transfer the money to the laboratory in Saint Petersburg and we expect the laboratory's experts to arrive and take samples of the soil. We will find out what changes have occurred during these three years since the first independent examination had been done," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by German Revazov, a picket organizer.

"We hold our protest action to show that the problem is not that the 'Electrozink' and the Holding of the Urals Mining and Metallurgical Company (UMMC), where the 'Electrozink' is a part, continue to pursue a policy of enrichment. The problem is that through their failure to act, the state regulatory authorities contribute to the implementation of the plans developed by the Ural Holding and the plant 'Electrozink'," German Revazov has stated.
