Khasavyurt Mayor refuses to start polemics with Ramzan Kadyrov

Saigidpasha Umakhanov, Mayor of Khasavyurt, has stated he used to be a close friend of Akhmat Kadyrov, and therefore, he refuses to start polemics with his son, Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov, who claims Saigidpasha Umakhanov has relationship with Dagestani militants.

On April 23, during the meeting of the board of the Chechen Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), Ramzan Kadyrov claimed Saigidpasha Umakhanov had relationship with armed underground. According to Ramzan Kadyrov, the Umakhanov's brother has financed Dagestani armed underground, and his nephew is the current Amir.

In his official response, Sagidpasha Umakhanov states that his "religious and moral convictions" do not allow him arguing with Ramzan Kadyrov. The Khasavyurt Mayor has also noted that, according to the criminal reports, at present, Dagestan is not the place to supply weapons and drugs to Chechnya.

Sagidpasha Umakhanov claims that the attempt on his life committed on March 12 may be a result of the Ramzan Kadyrov's efforts to maintain stability in the region.

Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" has reported that when speaking of the assassination attempt on the Khasavyurt Mayor, experts mentioned different versions, including a version of "Chechen trace", a version of inter-clan fighting, and a version of militants' revenge.

On April 22, in Grozny, at the meeting attended by the leaders of the Chechen Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), Ramzan Kadyrov also demanded to significantly tighten access control near the administrative border with Dagestan. According to him, recently, Khasavyurt delivers weapons and drugs to the republic, and extremists penetrate to the Chechen republic also from Khasavyurt.

Se earlier reports: "Attempt on Khasavyurt Mayor committed in Dagestan", "Khasavyurt Mayor claims being unaware of impending attempt on his life", "A missing policeman found killed in Dagestan".
