In Sochi, court fines David Khakim with 20,000 roubles for solo picket in support of Evgeny Vitishko

Today, the Sochi Tsentralny District Court has recognized activist David Khakim guilty for holding a solo pickets near the building of the city administration on February 17.

Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" has reported that David Khakim was detained on February 23. The Court found him guilty of disobeying lawful demands of policemen and arrested him for four days. The activist himself associated his detention with his public and protest activities. On February 27, the Sochi activist was released.

The court session chaired by Judge Sergey Martynenko has pronounced the decision to find David Khakim guilty under Article 20.2 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation for holding the solo picket at the building of the city administration during the Sochi Winter Olympic Games.

The Court has found that David Khakim had violated the decree by demonstrating the poster reading: "Freedom to Evgeny Vitishko, Ecological Prisoner!"

The activist and his defence, represented by lawyer Alexander Popkov, have disagreed with the ruling of the Court and intend to challenge it within 10 days.
