Power agents found no militants in Urus-Martan District of Chechnya
Law enforcers failed to find any possible members of the armed underground in the Urus-Martan District of Chechnya, where on April 12 a militant who rendered resistance was killed, a source from the republic's law enforcement bodies told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
The armed clash occurred in the forest near the village of Shalazhi. The killed militant was identified as Khamid Andiev, an active member of the armed underground.
"Operative actions aimed to find possible Andiev's accomplices continue. It is quite possible that he was on his way to Shalazhi to meet some of his aides," said the source, adding that Andiev had been on the federal wanted list, and, according to preliminary data, was involved in attacks on local power agents.
At the same time, in the Achkhoy-Martan District, which is neighbouring the Urus-Martan one and bordering on Ingushetia, a search is underway of a possible burial of Doku Umarov, the former leader of the armed underground in Northern Caucasus.
