In Dagestan, advocate claims being not allowed to visit her client in SIZO

Staff members of the Makhachkala SIZO (pre-trial prison) did not allow Magomed Aliev suspected in robbery to be visited by his advocate. This was reported by advocate Sapiyat Magomedova. The SIZO administration refutes the advocate's claims.

Let us remind you that Magomed Aliev is suspected of robbery committed by an organized grouping. On March 28, he sent an appeal to the Investigating Department of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) for Dagestan. In his appeal, he has complained about being beaten on March 17 at the Makhachkala SIZO.

According to the advocate, an official from the SIZO administration has told her that at the SIZO, "no one is subjected to beatings." "As for what happened on March 17, then, my client was subjected to use of special equipment, since he violated the regime," Sapiyat Magomedova has said.

The advocate has stated that in the nearest future, she intends to file a complaint about the non-admission to the defendant to the administration of the Federal Penitentiary Service Department (known as FSIN Department) for Dagestan and to the Prosecutor's Office of Dagestan.

The advocate has noted that the investigator has not provided her with the results of the forensic examination, which, according to him, was held upon the advocate's request. Sapiyat Magomedova has suggested that the officials are playing for time to ensure the traces of beating at the Magomed Aliev's body cannot be identified.

An official from the Makhachkala SIZO has told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the claims about non-admission of advocates to their clients are groundless and that there are no restrictions for advocates' visits to their clients.
