Relatives of native of Chechnya who returned from Thailand report his detention by law enforcers
As reported by the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial", on March 27, Khasan Edilkhanov, a native of Chechnya, who arrived from Thailand, was detained by law enforcers in the arrival area of the Sheremetievo Airport on suspicion of involvement in illegal armed formations (IAFs).
On March 28, the Lefortovo Court ruled to place Edilkhanov behind bars.
"On March 29, Alexander Kulikovskiy, a member of the Public Observation Commission (POC) visited Khasan in Lefortovo; the latter confirmed that he was detained upon arrival and all the time he was under psychological pressure," says the release of the HRC "Memorial" received by the "Caucasian Knot" on March 31.
"We don't know the charges against Khasan Edilkhanov. However, what happened to him in the last three days looks very much like fabrication of criminal charges," says the release.
