Situation in South Ossetia and Abkhazia prevents Georgia's Eurasian integration, experts assert
Georgia should seek to Eurasian integration. However, the conflict around Abkhazia and South Ossetia significantly hinders that tendency. This was stated by Georgian experts at the videoconference "Eurasian Choice of 2014".
The international videoconference was held on March 28 at the Tbilisi international press centre of the RIA "Novosti". The videoconference paid considerable attention to the prospects of integration into the Eurasian Economic Union for Georgia and Armenia. The conference bridge was held against the background of protest action organized by opponents of cooperation with the Russian Federation.
Experts from the two South-Caucasian countries who participated in the videoconference showed diametrically opposite attitudes. Yerevan participants of the videoconference have expressed optimistic opinion on the prospects of Eurasian integration, while the opinion of the experts from Georgia was quite pessimistic, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
