KBR entrepreneur accused of stealing 10 million roubles from MoD

The Prosecutor's Office of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR) has accused Aslan Ansokov, Director General of the LLC "AnKar", of embezzling 10 million roubles, transferred to him under the contract by the Ministry of Defence (MoD). Instead of shipping potatoes to the MoD, the businessman spent the money on personal needs.

According to the Investigating Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of the KBR, in September 2010, the head of the LLC "AnKar" concluded a state contract worth a total of over 33 million roubles with the Russia's MoD for supplying potatoes.

After signing the contract, the MoD made an advance transfer of more than 10 million roubles to the bank account of the LLC. However, Aslan Ansokov failed to fulfil his obligations and spent the money on his own needs, says the official website of the Russian GPO (General Prosecutor's Office).

After the head of the logistics of the MoD addressed law enforcers, they made a pre- investigation check that confirmed the embezzlement.

Aslan Ansokov has been charged with an especially large business fraud and may be sentenced to up to five years in prison, the ITAR-TASS reports.
