Mother of Chechen natives, accused of Anna Politkovskaya's murder, failed to identify her son in video
The Moscow City Court has continued to consider the evidence presented by the defence of the defendants accused of the murder of Anna Politkovskaya, an observer of the newspaper "Novaya Gazeta". The advocates have questioned two witnesses, the first of whom was Ilman Khasmagomadov transferred to the court. Then, they questioned the mother of the Makhmudov defendants, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.
Zalpa Makhmudova, the mother of the Makhmudov defendants, has recognized among the defendants her three sons and her blood brother Lom-Ali Gaitukaev.
"In autumn of 2006, he looked the same as he looks now, and he has only grown up a bit," said the defence witness in response to the advocate Murad Musaev's question, when the advocate asked her to describe the appearance of Rustam Makhmudov.
Then, Murad Musaev has presented a video record from surveillance cameras with a man, whom investigators believe to be the killer of Anna Politkovskaya. According to the investigators, the surveillance cameras have captured Rustam Makhmudov. Zalpa Makhmudova has categorically denied that was her son.
Let us remind you that the case of the Anna Politkovskaya's murder is being considered at the Moscow City Court by the jury panel, which was re-formed on January 14. The previous jury panel was disbanded in November 2013.
