Former military tried cutting veins in front of Azerbaijani MoD

In Baku, a former serviceman has made self-inflicted injuries in protest against the refusal to accept him at the Ministry of Defence (MoD).

The incident occurred in the Parliament Avenue, in front of the MoD of Azerbaijan. A Baku resident Ali Mukhamed oglu Akhmedov (born in 1972) cut his wrist veins, the APA reports with reference to a source from the Sabail District Police Office.

According to the source, Akhmedov wanted to at the MoD because of a tumour in his leg. Nobody wanted to listen to him; therefore, he inflicted a self-injury. The investigation is underway, the edition "Vesti.az" reports.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the increase in the number of suicides and suicide attempts was the topic of the public debates held in February in Baku. About 80% of these cases are caused by social problems, bureaucrats' arbitrariness and human rights violations, activists of NGOs and political parties assert.
