Rights defenders and Circassian activists criticize NCC's ruling to deport Syrian student
The ruling of the Nalchik City Court (NCC) to deport a student named Otkhman Ayal from Russia will be appealed against, said the advocate Mukharbiy Kardanov. The court's ruling is a political one, said Valery Khatazhukov, the Chairman of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic's Human Rights Centre; and Aslan Beshto, the Chairman of the "Kabardian Congress", has added that the republic's power structures should not create a precedent of maltreatment of our compatriots.
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on February 10 the NCC ruled to deport the students from Syria Yasser Stas, Nart Abaza and Otkhman Ayal (in the media he is also named Atakhman) after they were seen to participate in the anti-Olympic action held on February 7. The students claim that they happened to be in the action venue just by accident.
In its ruling, the NCC referred to the fact that at the check of documents by the Federal Migration Service (FMS), Otkhman Ayal had no papers confirming his right to stay in the Russian Federation.
Otkhman Ayal was in Russia on due legal terms, said his advocate.
The ruling to deport the young people who want to continue their future life on the land of their ancestors, looks blasphemous, Aslan Beshto believes. He has urged the authorities and all the stakeholders to settle the conflict peacefully.
Andzor Akhokhov, the organizer of the above anti-Olympic action, said that the Syrian students did not take part in it.
