Volgograd picketers support Russia's position in Crimea

A picket in support of the Russian-speaking population of the Crimea was held on March 14 in Volgograd. A group of young people stated their support of the policy of Russian authorities in relation to the Crimea and the need for peaceful settlement of the situation in the region.

The picket of 10 young people in support of Crimean residents was held at the Central Embankment of Volgograd.

During the action, the picketers collected signatures to a petition addressed to President Putin, Sergey Aksyonov, the Chair of the Council of Ministers of the Crimean Autonomy, and Alexei Chaly, the Mayor of Sevastopol.

"Today, Volgograd residents express their enthusiastic support to residents of their sister-city of Sevastopol and the people of the Crimean Autonomy. We, residents of the multinational Volgograd, are sure that one cannot impose his will on other people. Ukrainians themselves should decide on their future. We find it necessary to support the decision of the Russian Federation to defend our compatriots in Ukraine," says their appeal.

Earlier, Mustafa Djemilyov, the former head of the Mejlis of Crimean Tatars, said that there is no threat to Russian population in the Crimea. According to his story, the Crimean Tatars are for the Autonomy remaining a part of Ukraine.
