Five natives of Dagestan who arrived from Egypt detained in Makhachkala airport, relatives assert

In Makhachkala airport "Uytash" power agents have detained five natives of the village of Novosasitli, Kizilyurt District of Dagestan, who had spent more than two months in Egypt, said Rasul Maazov, a relative of one of the detainees. Today, he has turned to the HRC "Memorial" with an application about their detention.

His application states, citing the evidence of the plane passengers, that the detainees were taken away by armed men in masks. The airport officials told nothing to relatives about the reasons for detention, the application continues.

Relatives suspect that the detainees are tortured, Rasul Maazov told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"Advocates are not admitted to them. We know nothing about the charges. But once they are hidden from us, we think that they are accused of the crimes they never committed. Hence, a case against them is fabricated; and they are subjected to torture," said Maazov.

On March 11, relatives of the detained residents of Dagestan appealed to the Prosecutor's Office and the Investigating Department for Dagestan of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF).
