During the week of February 17-23, 2014, no information about the casualties and wounded persons in the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus has been reported. These are the results of the calculations of the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources.

Special and counterterrorist operations

On February 20, in the village of Novy Agachaul of the Karabudakhkent District of Dagestan, power agents surrounded the house of a local resident Aslikhanum Dadaeva, whose husband disappeared on February 17; and her son was killed in a special operation in Izberbash on February 5. The house was searched; and power agents announced that they had found an explosive device in the house; they explained that it was impossible to neutralize the bomb and that it would be blown up in place. The ordered the residents to move to a safe distance. At 3:30 p.m. Moscow time the house was blown up.

On February 21, the Magaramkent District of Dagestan was put under the counterterrorist operation (CTO) regime. Seven residents of the village of Sovietskoe of the Magaramkent District were detained during the operation. They were taken to the Magaramkent ROVD (District Interior Division) for identification and check for their involvement in aiding members of illegal armed formations (IAFs). Three of the detainees were released on the same day. Relatives believe that cartridges were planted on the detainees at detention.

Detentions

On February 17, Alautdin Dadaev, a villager of Novy Agachaul of the Karabudakhkent District of Dagestan, went to his farm; then, he took the way back toward the house, but never reached it. On February 19, his wife managed to find out at law enforcement bodies that Dadaev was detained and kept at the GOVD (City Interior Division) of Izberbash. She suggests that the detention may be related to their son Arsen, who was killed in a special operation in Izberbash on February 5.

Kidnappings

On February 21, Aisha Sadova, a resident of the Magaramkent District of Dagestan, said that her husband had been kidnapped by law enforcers. According to her story, Nazir Sadov was kidnapped at night in Makhachkala by masked men, who came to the rented apartment in Shamil Avenue.
