Baku: blast at fuel station kills two people

The explosion occurred on Thursday at a fuel station in the capital of Azerbaijan. Two people were killed and another one wounded, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed by the on duty officer of the Khatai District Police Department.

The incident occurred in Ramiz Guliev Street in the Khatai District of Baku. The fuel station, owned by the LUKoil Company, was under repairs when the blast happened.

According to the police, gasoline was left at the bottom of one of the tanks. When the tank was filled in with a strong jet of water, an explosion occurred.

The fuel station is situated is in a densely populated area near the "Akhmedli" metro station.

This is the second blast in Baku within the last 24 hours, where people were wounded. At about 10:30 a.m., near the "Azadlyg Prospecti" metro station, an explosion occurred in a building under construction; three persons were hospitalized.
