Vitishko's defence claims absence of notification about dismissal of complaint against ecologist's administrative arrest

It was back on February 6 that the Krasnodar Territorial Court dismissed the complaint lodged by Evgeny Vitishko, an activist of the "Ecological Watch for Northern Caucasus", against his administrative arrest for 15 days, said the court. However, neither Vitishko, nor his lawyer, according to them, knew about this decision until February 12.

Let us remind you that on February 3 Evgeny Vitishko was detained when leaving the building of the Criminal-Executive Inspectorate. According to the police, he swore obscenities at a stop of public transport. By the court ruling he was sentenced to 15 days of administrative arrest. His appeal lodged on February 4 was considered by the court back on February 6.

The "Caucasian Knot" wrote that in June 2012 Evgeny Vitishko and Suren Gazaryan, another activist of the "EcoWatch", were sentenced to three years of probation (conditional imprisonment). The court found them guilty of damaging a fence around the summer cottage, belonging, according to ecologists, to the governor of the Krasnodar Territory Alexander Tkachov. On December 20, 2013, the court changed Vitishko's conditional term for real one. This decision was appealed against by his defence.

Let us remind you that the issue of changing Vitishko's imprisonment regime was raised by the Federal Penitentiary Service, which decided that the ecologist "had systematically violated the restrictions of his probation."

The Krasnodar Territorial Court has dismissed the appeal, leaving the decision on the real imprisonment in a colony-settlement in force.
