Ruslan Gereev: within a year of work Abdulatipov failed to solve cadre problems

The statements of Ramazan Abdulatipov, who has been leading the Republic of Dagestan exactly for one year, were not in line with his practical activities. Major questions arise in relation to his cadre policy; while creating districts in the territory of the republic does not look an optimal management decision, said the experts questioned by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to the journalist Ruslan Gereev, the director of the Centre for Islamic Studies of Northern Caucasus, there are tangible results in the fight against extremism. In his opinion, the economic situation has undergone no significant changes; in particular, "there is no progress in fighting the corruption and bureaucracy" and "with the officials' reporting to the public."

One year is a too little time for making changes in such subject like Dagestan, said the expert. The further progress directions for Dagestan and others subjects will become clear after the Olympics.

The sociologist Enver Kisriev agrees that the transition period is still ongoing.

"Until now, the cabinet of ministers is unstable enough; replacements and resignations continue. Projects have been formulated; however, it's too early to state any progress," said the expert. According to his story, this is because of the absence of the working mechanism of the executive power.

As stated by Aisha Selimkhanova, the spokeswoman of the Dagestani Regional Public Organization (DRPO) "Pravozaschita" (Advocacy), during the year of Abdulatipov's leadership, the pressure on Salafi Muslims grew stronger. However, the number of applications on kidnappings received by her organization has gone down.
