Navalny presents his project "Encyclopaedia of Expenses – Price of Olympiad"

The "Fund for Fighting Corruption" created by the oppositionist Alexei Navalny has launched a new project "Encyclopaedia of Expenses – Price of Olympiad", which tracks the costs of organizing and hosting the 2014 Winter Olympic Games in Sochi. Ilya Djus, the official representative of the Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak, has treated the research of the Fund as "incorrect".

The project is presented in the form of an interactive map, which marks the Olympic venues and presents the costs of their construction.

"The total figure of the preparation for the Olympics is known – 214 billion roubles," Russian President Vladimir Putin told reporters on January 17 in Sochi. However, according to the authors of the above project, the total cost of the Olympiad amounted to 1.5 trillion roubles. The authors of the research have included here all the credits of the VEB Bank, issued to the investors, implying that they would remain unrecoverable.

Earlier, another famous Russian oppositional leader Boris Nemtsov in his report "Winter Olympics in Subtropics" evaluated the share of corrupt embezzlements in preparing the Games as 50-60% of the total costs. In his turn, Dmitry Kozak, the Deputy Prime Minister, said that the conducted checks revealed no misuse of allocated funds.

The criticism of the authorities for spending billions on the organization of the Winter Olympics in Sochi is ungrounded, Vladimir Kozhin, the office manager of the Russian President, said on December 4, 2013. He is sure that Russia received not just a set of sports facilities, but a completely new city with modern infrastructure.
