Armenian MFA confirms killing of Sergey Nigoyan in Euromaidan in Kiev

The Armenian Sergey Nigoyan took an active part in Euromaidan actions in the capital of Ukraine and died from a gunshot wound received there, the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has reported.

The today's statement of the MFA reads that Sergey Nigoyan "received one bullet in his head and one bullet in his neck."

"The first Euromaidan casualty was the Armenian Sergey Nigoyan. It's just terrible," the author with the nickname Kornelij wrote on January 22 in his blog on the "Caucasian Knot".

Let us remind you that that on January 22 the Ukrainian opposition reported a total of five killed protesters at riots in Kiev. The Ukrainian MIA has confirmed two deaths.

The group "For the freedom fighter Sergey Nigoyan and other heroes" set up in the social network Facebook has condemned the violence applied by Ukrainian authorities to people.

"Democratic and free citizens of Armenia condemn the violence applied by Ukrainian authorities to their own people. We are concerned that this practice could be extended to the countries wishing to join the Customs Union," says the statement of the initiative group.
