In 2013, Dagestani Prosecutor's Office received 215 kidnapping messages

As reported by the Prosecutor's Office of the Republic of Dagestan, in 2013, they received 215 reports about kidnappings; of them, 190 referred to bride abductions with the aim of marriage.

In most cases, it was decided not to start proceedings, as it became clear when checking that the abduction was actually staged by mutual consent of the young guy and girl, the website if the Office wrote on January 22.

The message posted on the website also warns against association of kidnappers, armed and dressed in camouflage uniform, with law enforcement officials. These circumstances alone give no reason to believe that law enforcers are involved in the kidnapping or abduction.

Meanwhile, the "Caucasian Knot" is also running its statistics of victims of the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus. According to the calculations based on its own materials and information from open sources, Dagestan remains the "hot spot" of Northern Caucasus – in the period from October 1 to December 31, 2013, at least 181 people fell victim to the armed conflict; of them, 102 were killed and 79 wounded.
