Resident of Ingushetia asks rights defenders to protect his brother, detained in Rostov-on-Don, from torture

Three natives of Ingushetia have been detained by policemen in Rostov-on-Don. Their relatives have learned that the detainees are suspected of intending to commit a terror act. A brother of one of them has turned to human rights organizations and the Public Oversight Commission of the Rostov Region with a request to prevent the torture of the detainees.

The appeal of Beslan Lolokhoev to the Ombudsperson of Ingushetia, the Human Rights Organization "Mashr" and the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" was posted by Magomed Mutsolgov, the head of the "Mashr", in his blog that he runs on the "Caucasian Knot".

According to Beslan Lolokhoev, on January 11, his brother Rashid, born in 1987, along with his two friends, went to Rostov-on-Don to buy some furniture for further resale in Ingushetia. They were detained by the police; and "drugs and a pistol" were found on two of them; and Beslan Lolokhoev's brother allegedly had a shahid belt on him. According to Beslan, his brother is engaged in minor entrepreneurship, has no criminal record, and was never brought to criminal responsibility.

"My father saw Rashid and the two persons detained along with him, when they were brought to the court for selecting the freedom restriction measure. Rashid walked with great difficulty; it was caused by violence applied to him," Beslan Lolokhoev wrote in his complaint, asking to check the custody and physical conditions of the detainees.
