KBR: tenants of dilapidated house in Adiyukh refuse to move out for capital repairs

Tenants of the dilapidated house located in the village of Adiyukh of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR) are to leave their apartments for a home renovation. However, not all tenants agree to move out, since they believe the repairs will not save the house. This was told to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent by Zoya Almova, a tenant of the house.

After the tenants of the house filed numerous complaints to different public institutions, officials have allocated money from the federal budget for the reconstruction of the house. The tenants of the house claim that the capital repairs will not save the building and thus they may be left without shelter during the renovation. Besides, according to the tenants of the house, they have nowhere to go during the repairs.

The letter issued by the administration of Nalchik and addressed to the tenants of the dilapidated house states that the authorities have concluded a state contract for reconstruction of the residential house till up to December 31, 2014, in accordance with the federal target programme "Improving sustainability of residential buildings, essential facilities and life support systems in seismic regions of the Russian Federation in 2009-2018 years".

"The KBR Government has made the decision to provide in the current year the financial assistance to persons permanently residing in the house to pay for rental housing. They will be also provided the similar assistance in 2014," the letter emphasizes.

An official from the administration has explained that the money allocated specifically for the renovation of the house cannot be used in any different way, including transfer to the tenants of the dilapidated house.
