On February 4, "Airzena" to resume direct Sochi-Tbilisi flights

For the first time since 2008, the Georgian airline "Airzena Georgian Airlines" resumes direct passenger charter flights between Tbilisi and Sochi. This was reported by the airline managers. Starting from February 4, the airline will perform flights twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The airline managers have added that the National Olympic Committee of Georgia (NOCG) contacted them with a request for establishing flights between Sochi and Tbilisi on the eve of the 2014 Winter Olympic Games.

Flights on the route Tbilisi-Sochi-Tbilisi will be operated by Bombardier CRJ aircraft, which is able to transport up to 90 persons.

According to the agency, on February 4, the first flight from Tbilisi to Sochi will transport the NOCG Secretary General and several Georgian journalists, who will cover the Olympic Games.

At the Olympic Games, the Georgian national team will be presented by four athletes: three alpine skiers and one figure skater.

Let us remind you that in June 2010, the "Georgian International Airlines" (formerly "Euroline"), another Georgian airline, sent a request to the Federal Air Transport Agency of the Russian Federation to get permission to run charter flights to Russia. However, the decision on the issue was never made.
