In Sochi, more than 800 hotels get "stars" on the eve of 2014 Olympic Games

In Sochi, 833 hotel complexes have successfully passed the mandatory classification for assignment of "star" category in preparation for the Winter Olympic Games. This was reported by the Ministry of Resorts and Tourism of the Krasnodar Territory. All classified hotels were included in the register of Olympic accommodation facilities.

Earlier, the "Caucasian Knot" has reported that starting from May 2011, all Sochi hotels, motels, sanatoria, and private guest houses were required to be certified to obtain the "star" category. Otherwise, hoteliers faced threats to be brought to administrative responsibility.

"Mini-hotels are the most important facilities: 343 accommodation facilities were classified in the Olympic capital. The resort accommodation facilities during and after the Olympic Games will meet international standards," the RIA "Novosti" reports with reference to the Ministry of Resorts and Tourism of the Krasnodar Territory.

Let us remind you that in Sochi, rates for accommodation during the Winter Olympic Games will remain fixed. The Russian government has limited the maximum rate for hotel rooms up to 14,000 roubles per day.

According to experts, 100 days prior to the 2014 Olympic Winter Games, ordinary fans have no chances to book rooms in central hotels of the resort city, since the main number of rooms were booked by the organizing committee "Sochi-2014".
