Chechnya: case against former municipal official of 900,000-rouble embezzlement sent to court

As reported by the Chechen Prosecutor's Office, the case initiated against Said-Khasan Yakhaev, the former head of municipal unitary institution "Oktiabrsky District ZhEU (division for housing services)" of Grozny, accused of financial fraud and embezzlement of more than 900,000 roubles from the funds allocated for repair of dwelling houses in the city, has been sent to the court.

"In the course of the prosecutors' check of the above institution, a large theft of funds by ZhEU bosses was revealed. It turned out that they drew up consciously forged documents about repair works fulfilled in several apartment houses in the Oktiabrsky District of Grozny. Over 900,000 roubles were embezzled. The trial will begin in January 2014," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed by a source from the Prosecutor's Office of Chechnya.

According to his version, Yakhaev faces up to six years in prison.
