The attackers fled in a car that was waiting for them.

On December 12, in the village of Tlibisho, Akhvakh District of Dagestan, an armed clash burst out of power agents with suspected militants. After two local residents asked the strangers who they were, the latter, who turned to be militants, took the villagers as hostages. A group of armed people with hostages was found in the rural settlements named Selsovet Tadmagitlinsky. Policemen began chasing them; and in the outskirt of the village of Tlibisho a skirmish occurred, in which one policeman was killed another one was wounded; among the suspects, one was wounded, but he managed to escape. The hostages also managed to escape. At midnight of December 13 the district was put under the counterterrorist operation (CTO) regime.
