FSB officer shot dead in Khasavyurt

According to a source from local investigating bodies, today in Khasavyurt a senior lieutenant of the Dagestani Department of the Russian FSB (Federal Security Bureau) was attacked.

A Lada Priora car driven by the officer was shelled at about 9:30 a.m. in Groznenskaya Street of Khasavyurt by unidentified criminals from a submachine gun and a pistol.

"The officer died on the spot," the spokesman of the Department for Dagestan of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) told the ITAR-TASS.

According to preliminary reports, the attackers were three or four in number; they fled presumably in a Priora car, the "Interfax" reports.
