Makhachkala resident, who perished when rescuing two girls in Zvenigorod, awarded posthumously by Russian Ombudsman

On December 9, Moscow will hold a ceremony to award the medal "Hurry to Do Good" of the Russian Ombudsman to Marat Rakhmetov from Makhachkala, who rescued two girls in Zvenigorod by the cost of his own life. The medal will be given to his parents, who will come to Moscow to attend the ceremony.

Let us remind you that on June 24, 24-year-old Marat Rakhmetov perished in the town of Zvenigorod of the Moscow Region. He sank in the Moscow River, while rescuing two schoolgirls Yuliya Akineva and Repsime Kerogyan, both 14 years old.

Awards of the Ombudsman will be honoured to citizens who have made great contribution to the protection of the rights and freedoms of persons and citizens provided by the Constitution of the Russian Federation, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the European Convention on Human Rights.

It should be noted that activists of the Dagestani public organizations offered to award Marat Rakhmetov posthumously with the title of "Hero of Russia". According to Magomed Magomedov, Director of the "Pure in Heart" Foundation, financial assistance has been allocated to family members of Marat Rakhmetov, and a documentary film will be shot about him.
