SAM of Dagestan: no extremism was promoted in women's madrasa in Stavropol

The information about extremist activities exercised in the female madrasa in Stavropol, circulated on November 1 by power bodies, is treated as false by the Spiritual Administration of Muslims (SAM) of Dagestan, said Magomed-Rasul Omarov, the head of the press service of the SAM. According to students and teachers of the madrasa, policemen apologized to them about the search. The police of the territory did not comment on the situation.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on November 1, the Stavropol Territorial Department of the Russian Federal Security Bureau (FSB) reported that a secret female madrasa had been revealed in the region, the students and organizers of which promoted extremism. A few days later, Mukhammad Rakhimov, the head of the SAM of the Stavropol Territory, refuted this information.

According to Magomed-Rasul Omarov, power agents conducted their activities in the building, occupied by the religious group "As-Salam", which was had been officially registered and the activities of which had been reported to the city administration.

In his turn, Magomed-Zagid Sadikov, the President of the Makhachkala Institute of Theology and International Relations, who is also supervising the office of his Institute in Stavropol, visited Stavropol on November 19 and said that the madrasa was working.

He explained that the religious public organization named "As-Salam" was opened in early January at the request of the local Jamaat, where there are many natives of Dagestan.

The press service of the Chief Department for the Stavropol Territory of the Russia's MIA has reported that the respective inquiries are underway.
