Advocate Abdurashid Sheikhov asks ICRF's Chief to withdraw case on Akhmednabi Akhmednabiev's murder from Dagestani investigators

Advocate Abdurashid Sheikhov has requested to transfer the case on the attempt and the murder of journalist Akhmednabi Akhmednabiev for the investigation to the Chief Investigating Department for the North-Caucasian Federal District (NCFD).

Let us remind you that on July 9, Akhmednabi Akhmednabiev, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent, the deputy editor-in-chief of the weekly newspaper "Novoe Delo", was shot dead by unidentified persons in the village of Semender of the Kirov District of Makhachkala.

If in hot pursuit, within the first two months from the date of the crime, Dagestani investigators fail to find the person who killed Akhmednabi Akhmednabiev, they will not be able to find the killer at all. This was explained by advocate Abdurashid Sheikhov, a representative of the victim party, as the reason for his request addressed to Bastrykin. Besides, till present, the two criminal cases on the attempt and the murder of Akhmednabi Akhmednabiev have not been combined into the one case, Abdurashid Sheikhov states.

The criminal investigation into the murder of Akhmednabi Akhmednabiev is underway, and the necessary investigative actions are being carried out; however, the results are not disclosed in the interests of the investigation. This was reported in turn by Rasul Temirbekov, Senior Assistant of the Chief of the Investigating Department of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) for Dagestan. According to his information, the basic version of the murder of Akhmednabi Akhmednabiev remains professional activities of the journalist.

Akhmednabi Akhmednabiev cooperated with the "Caucasian Knot" for more than seven years and highlighted acute problems. In particular, he reported on violations of human rights in Dagestan, crimes committed by law enforcers, persecution of religious communities and some believers.
