In Kabardino-Balkaria, policemen unlawfully detain Alim Uzdenov, his relatives assert

On August 21, in Nalchik, policemen detained Alim Uzdenov, a native of Kabardino-Balkaria. Drugs found by the policemen became the reason for his detention. This was reported by a police representative. Alim Uzdenov has never had anything to do with narcotic substances. This was stated by sister of Alim Uzdenov. She has added that earlier, their elder brother Kyazim Uzdenov disappeared, who was suspected of involvement in illegal armed formations (IAFs).

The detention took place at the moment when the young man went to his job at the entertainment park.

"We have filed a complaint to the authorities... Officer on duty who accepted our complaint said that Alim is kept at the police station in Baksan he was caught with drugs," Klara has said. She has added that the family members believe that the drugs were planted to the young man.

Five months ago, Kyazim Uzdenov, the brother of Klara and Alim, disappeared. On May 19, several weeks after his disappearance, the house of the Uzdenov family was searched. The search was conducted by staff members of the Centre "E" (unit to combat extremism, note of the "Caucasian Knot"). "The search warrant stated that he was an IAF member. And the criminal case was instituted against him. Till present, we know nothing more about the Kyazim's fate," Klara has said.
