In Rostov-on-Don, protesters demand to recognize Cossacks and Russians to be indigenous inhabitants of region

Participants of the rally, held on August 18 in Rostov-on-Don demanded to tighten the immigration policy and to amend the Charter of the Region with provisions on the recognition of Russians and Cossacks to be the indigenous population of the region. The action was attended by about 200 persons.

"For several years, we are fighting for Russians and Cossacks to be recognized the indigenous inhabitants of the region," stated Sergey Klyata, the leader of the national centre "We are Russians".

He has expressed his indignation about the fact that the Advisory Council under the Governor of the Rostov Region is composed of the national and cultural autonomies, without Russian autonomy.

"Who determines the internal policy of the Rostov Region? Why it is determined without the opinion of the indigenous inhabitants of the region?" Sergey Klyata has asked.

Speakers have also claimed the danger of ethnic criminality in the region and demanded to tighten immigration policy.

"Migrants... have invaded our region and country. Employers support that fact, since they have cheap labour force," Evgeny Alexandrovich, a participant of the rally, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The rally was ended with the adoption of the resolution, in which the protesters declared their intention to create the all-Russian Coordination Council for the protection of rights of indigenous inhabitants and for the fight against ethnic criminality and corruption.
