In July 2013, 65 people fell victim to the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus

In July 2013, at least 65 people suffered from the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus; of them, 46 people were killed and 19 others were wounded. These are the results of calculations made by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources.

Most victims were registered in Dagestan, where in July 31 people suffered, including 23 killed persons and eight wounded ones. As a result of attacks committed by unidentified attackers, in armed clashes and during special operations, six law enforcers were killed and four others received wounds of varying severity. During the armed clashes, nine suspected members of the armed underground were killed, and one more was wounded. As a result of attacks, undertaken by unidentified persons, and in bomb blasts, eight civilians were lost and three other were wounded.

In Kabardino-Balkaria, 14 people fell victims to the conflict were, including 13 lost persons and one more wounded. Two law enforcers were killed and one more was wounded as a result of the attacks committed by suspected members of the armed underground. During armed clashes, and as a result of special operations, 11 suspected members of illegal armed formations (IAFs) were liquidated. For July, there is no information about any victims among civilians.

In Chechnya, in July, 11 people fell victim to the conflict; of them, four were killed and seven other were wounded. The attacks of suspected members of the armed underground, as well as explosions, claimed lives of two law enforcers and wounded seven more. During armed clashes, two suspected IAF members were killed. For July, there is no information about any victims among civilians.

In July, in the Stavropol Territory, five people fell victim to the armed conflict: four of them were killed and one was wounded. As a result of armed clashes, law enforcers liquidated four suspected members of the armed underground; and one policeman was wounded.

In Ingushetia, four people suffered from the conflict in July; two of them were killed and two more were wounded. The casualties were two suspects of involvement in IAFs; two law enforcers were wounded.

In July, there was no information about any victims of the armed conflict in North Ossetia and Karachay-Cherkessia.

Let us remind you that in June at least 82 people fell victim to the armed conflict; of them, 39 people were lost, and 43 more were wounded.
