Rostov Region: "Spravedlivaya Rossiya" sues participation of "Rodina" candidates in elections

Activists of the Rostov Regional Branch of the "Spravedlivaya Rossiya" (Fair Russia) Party went to the court aiming to remove from registration their rivals from the Regional Branch of the "Rodina" (Motherland) Party at elections to the Legislative Assembly of the Rostov. The first instance court has dismissed their lawsuit; however, they intend to challenge the decision, Sergey Kosinov, the head of the office of the Rostov Branch of the "Spravedlivaya Rossiya", told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

On August 12, the Rostov Regional Court dismissed the claims lodged by the Rostov Regional Branch of the "Spravedlivaya Rossiya" demanding from the Regional Election Commission (REC) to abolish from registration the list of candidates nominated by the All-Russian party "Rodina" in single-mandate constituencies for election to the Legislative Assembly of the Rostov Region.

The regional list of 66 candidates of the Legislative Assembly of the fifth convocation submitted by the Regional Branch of the "Rodina" was registered on July 26, 2013. Besides, two more candidates from this party have been registered in single-mandate constituencies, the press service of the REC told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

The lawsuit signed by Mikhail Emelyanov, the chairman of the Rostov Regional "Spravedlivaya Rossiya", asserts that the nomination documents of the regional list of the "Rodina" candidates and on nomination of the two single-mandate candidates – V. P. Leonov and O. V. Bulanov – had been signed by an unauthorized person, namely, the chairman of the Regional Branch of the "Rodina" Party Vladimir Ivaschenko, who, according to the claimants, continues being a member of the "Spravedlivaya Rossiya".
