Law enforcers report on active search for girl kidnapped in Grozny

Khadizhat Elimkhanova, a 20-year-old resident of Grozny, who was kidnapped by unidentified persons in the evening of July 6, has still not been found. Officials from the law enforcement bodies of the republic state that they take all the necessary measures to reveal the fate of the girl.

Let us remind you that the incident took place in the evening of July 6 in the town of Mayakovsky. According to the witnesses' story, Khadizhat Elimkhanova was kidnapped by two men, one of whom wore camouflage and was armed. The mother of the kidnapped girl appealed to the Human Rights Centre (HRC) "Memorial" for assistance. She has stated that on the same evening she had filed a complaint about the kidnapping to the OVD (Interior Division) of the Staropromyslovsky District of Grozny; however, the investigation did not begin until the third day after the incident.

"Investigators have the rough description of the kidnappers, the record of surveillance camera and the witness statements. Unfortunately, till present, they failed to clarify the fate of the kidnapped person," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by a representative of the republic's law enforcement bodies.

When commenting on the information that the search was started only on the third day of the incident, the police officer stated that it was a measure common in such cases.

It should be noted that Leila Khasieva, the mother of the kidnapped girl, suggests that the kidnapping of her daughter could involve one of the relatives of the Khadizhat's father. According to the story of Leila Khasieva, earlier, the man threatened Khadizhat. Meanwhile, representatives of the HRC "Memorial" note that in recent years, so-called "honour killings" are frequently committed in the Chechen Republic.
