In Armenia, suffered party in case of Nazaryan's death challenge the prosecutor

The party of the victims in the case of the death of Artak Nazaryan, an officer-contractor of the Armed Forces of Armenia, has demanded withdrawal of the prosecutor at the session of the Court of Appeal, where the sentence was reconsidered.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on May 8 the court sentenced five colleagues of Nazaryan, accused of driving him to suicide committed on July 27, 2010, to prison terms ranging from three to ten years. The convicts pleaded not guilty; their relatives and the family of the deceased officer believe that Nazaryan was killed, and demand to find the real perpetrators of the crime.

The advocates of two out of five convicts – Captain Akop Manukyan and Lieutenant Vaagn Airapetyan – have lodged their complaints concerning the abolition of the verdict of the court of general jurisdiction of the Idjevan Region and the re-examination of the case by the Court of Appeal.

An appeal was also submitted by the representatives of the victim's successor Tsovinar Nazaryan. Her lawsuit touches on the need to revise the verdict passed to the other three convicts – Privates Arutik Kirakosyan, Adibek Ovannisyan and Mkhitar Mkhitaryan.

The judicial panel of judges has deferred the consideration of this motion on July 30, explaining that they need to discuss it after the stage of submitting complaints.

Let us add here that in his speech the prosecutor Arutyun Arutyunyan has confirmed the investigators' version that Nazaryan had committed suicide.
