In Azerbaijan, community works of journalist Khadidja Ismailova postponed

The Department of execution of judgments of the Binagadi District of Baku has postponed for indefinite period serving of sentence to community service by Khadidja Ismailova, a journalist of the Azerbaijani service of "Radio Liberty".

Let us remind you that on June 10, the Binagadi District Court of Baku sentenced Khadidja Ismailova, the well-known journalist, was sentenced to alternative administrative punishment in the form of serving 220 hours of community service on charges of violating the order of organizing and holding mass actions. The journalist was found guilty of involvement in unsanctioned protest action held in Baku on January 26.

The Department of execution of judgments of the Binagadi District of Baku has pronounced that Khadidja Ismailova is to serve her sentence to community service in the form of sweeping the streets every day, starting from July 11, during four hours.

On July 10, Khadidja Ismailova wrote on her page on "Facebook" about a form of punishment to which she has been sentenced and stressed that she would execute the judgment under the motto: "Let's sweep for the sake of democracy and clear the country of filth." After that, many users began to write that they would come to sweep the streets together with Khadidja Ismailova in sign of solidarity with the journalist.

On July 11, Khadidja Ismailova came to the Department of execution of judgments of the Binagadi District. "Bailiffs let me go and told me that they would find another form of work for me without mentioning any deadlines," Khadidja Ismailova told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

Officials from the Department of execution of judgments of the Binagadi District refused to comment on the case.

It should be noted that following the results of the contest held by the "Caucasian Knot", Khadidja Ismailova was among the top ten "Heroes of Caucasus-2012".
