In Azerbaijan, author of song "Don't keep silent!" charged in absentia

In Azerbaijan, Gusein Abdullaev, an ex-MP, businessman and author of the protest song "Susma!" (Don't keep silent!), was charged of tax evasion and illegal business activities.

Let us remind you that in late May, multiple channels of "YouTube" presented video for the song written by Gusein Abdullaev "Susma!" (Don't keep silent!) that showed dispersion of protests in Baku by the police. In late June, the law enforcement bodies of Azerbaijan put Gusein Abdullaev on the wanted list: the businessman was suspected of tax evasion.

It was revealed that the company "Araz INC", which is the de facto led by Gusein Abdullaev, committed tax evasion amounting to 1.51 million manats (about 1.93 million US dollars). This was reported by the official statement of the Ministry of Taxes of Azerbaijan. Furthermore, according to the information of the Azerbaijan's Ministry of Taxes, Gusein Abdullaev was engaged in illegal business activities, as a result of which he received 966,000 manats (about 1.2 million US dollars).

The criminal case was instituted against Gusein Abdullaev for illegal business activities and tax evasion on a large scale. Under the above Articles, Gusein Abdullaev can face up to seven years of imprisonment, and the businessman was put on the international wanted list.

Kyamandar Nasibov, the former advocate of the businessman, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that the charges filed against the businessman are groundless.
