In Sochi, advocate challenges court decision on charge against builder Sergey Krbaschyan of rendering resistance to policemen

Advocate Alexander Boichenko has challenged at the Krasnodar Regional Court the decision pronounced by the Adler District Court to fine 1000 roubles Sergey Krbaschyan, a detained builder. The investigation into the case against Sergey Krbaschyan should clarify the circumstances of the incident with builder Mardiros Demerchyan, who was detained together with Sergey Krbaschyan and who later claimed torture and beating at the police department, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

Let us remind you that on June 12, Sergey Krbaschyan and Mardiros Demerchyan, builders of an Olympic facility, were detained by policemen. On June 13, the Court pronounced the decision to impose a fine of 1000 roubles to Sergey Krbaschyan under Article 19.3 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation for resisting lawful demands of the police.

In his appeal, the advocate demands to cancel the Court's decision, since in the course of the proceedings, no interpreter was present at the trial.

"Sergey Krbaschyan does not speak Russian perfectly; he was born and lived in Abkhazia, and he studied at an Abkhaz school, and therefore, he needed an interpreter. The man has not even understood of what he was accused," the advocated said.

It should be noted that following the results of the investigation into the complaints filed by Lyudmila Demerchyan and Alexander Boichenko, the advocate of Mardiros Demerchyan, the GUVD (Chief Interior Department) of the KrasnodarTerritory has not revealed commitment of any unlawful actions of the policemen. Meanwhile, the Sochi police filed a complaint to the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) requesting to bring Mardiros Demerchyan to responsibility for slander.
