Court upholds MfE's appeal against cancellation of fine to be paid by Novocherkassk Catholic parish

The Judge of the 15^th Arbitration Court of Appeal returned the appeal filed by the Department of supervisory activities for Novocherkassk of the Ministry for Emergencies (MfE) of the Rostov Region against the decision of the court of first instance to cancel a fine of 450,000 roubles to be paid by the parish of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church in the city.

The court has not yet scheduled the session to consider challenging the decision of the Novocherkassk City Court, which upheld the MfE's decision to fine Father Alexei, the abbot of the parish, 27,000 roubles.

Let us remind you that in March, the Rostov Prosecutor's Office began to inspect the public organizations of the Rostov Region. The Catholic parish in Novocherkassk became the first non-governmental organization subjected to penal sanctions. The identified violations were related to fire safety.

On May 22, the Arbitration Court of the Rostov Region found the judgment of the fine to be unlawful and cancelled it. On May 30, the Novocherkassk MfE filed an appeal against that decision. However, the appeal was not considered, since a copy of the appeal was not sent to all participants in the case. The Novocherkassk City Court has upheld the decision to fine the parish 27,000 roubles.

Father Alexei, the abbot of the parish of Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Roman Catholic Church of Novocherkassk, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that he had never received copies of the MfE's appeal.
