In Rostov-on-Don, trial on transfer of dormitory "Sail" postponed till July 23

The Arbitration Court of the Rostov Region has adjourned the case on transfer of the dormitory "Sail" to the city ownership till July 23 at the request of the defendant Joint-Stock Company (JSC) "Azov-Don Shipping Company". At the next court session held on July 2 the defendant assured the Court that he would make everything possible for peaceful resolution of the dispute.

Representatives of the plaintiffs the Regional Prosecutor's Office and the city administration also agreed to resolve the case in extrajudicial procedure.

Let us remind you that in the morning of March 26, in Rostov-on-Don, unidentified persons broke into the dormitory "Sail" and sprayed tear gas there. According to eyewitnesses' stories, several residents were severely beaten, one child was brought to the resuscitation ward, and two pregnant women were brought to the emergency room. Yuri Balabanov, the owner of the dormitory "Sail", promised not to take any actions with respect to the residents residing in the dormitory prior to the end of the prosecutors' investigation. In late March, the criminal case was instituted against Yuri Balabanov under Article "Arrogation" (Article 130 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

In April, the Prosecutors' Office filed a lawsuit to declare unlawful all transactions on sale of the building of the dormitory "Sail". At the meeting with representatives of the city administration and the Proletarsky District, residents of the dormitory have chosen the decision to transfer the dormitory to the municipal ownership.

"The documents on the termination of the contracts of sale of the dormitory building were sent to the Russian Registry. At present, we wait for its decision," stated Kolischuk, the representative of the JSC "Azov-Don Shipping Company", in court.
