Sochi: advocate of builder Demerchyan complains to the court about investigator's inaction

The advocate of the builder Mardiros Demerchyan, who claimed that he had been tortured by the police in Sochi, has filed a complaint against inaction of the investigator, who is examining the incident. The investigator Artyom Semenets, in his turn, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that all his actions were in compliance with the law.

The decision to institute a criminal case will be made within a month, Ivan Sengerov, the spokesman of the Investigating Department for the KrasnodarTerritory of the ICRF, said on June 19.

"Demerchyan's wife explained the investigator that her husband had his teeth knocked out; and she also leaned from her husband that policemen had inserted an iron bar into his rectum. However, in his statement on appointment of a forensic medical examination of June 14, 2013, the Senior Investigator Artyom Semenets failed to present the expert with the materials necessary for the examination," the lawyer Alexander Boichenko told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

In particular, according to the lawyer, the expert was not provided with Demerchyan's medical documents; and the investigator failed to assess the actions of medics from Hospital No. 4 of Sochi, who had not sent a special report (to the police) about a criminal injury of their patient.

On June 26, M. Demerchyan visited a forensic examiner, who sent him to the dentist. The examiner explained to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that he would be able to make his opinion only after gathering all the medical records.
