Georgian President claims MPs being pressed to adopt constitutional amendments

On February 8, in Tbilisi, Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili made an appeal from his residence, claiming MPs being pressured to adopt constitutional amendment.

The President of Georgia has told the journalists gathering at his residence how the new power imposes pressure on MPs to urge them to support the amendments to the Constitution, the "Georgia Online" reports.

"Here is MP Gocha Lemondjava, the former Mayor of Poti. Several years ago, we started to demolish garages and release space for children. What those garages represented? Behind them, syringes were lying, and everywhere there was unsanitary environment and dirt. We have built playgrounds. A man who at present works at the Prosecutor's Office tries to catch Gocha Lemondjava for removing his garage. However, he is told that he should vote for the amendments to the Constitution. Such cases are numerous," the Georgian President has stated.
