On June 17-23, 16 people suffered in armed conflict in Northern Caucasus

During the week from June 17 to June 23, 2013, at least 16 persons suffered from the armed conflict in Northern Caucasus; of them, six people were killed and 10 more wounded. These are the results of the calculations made by the "Caucasian Knot" based on its own materials and information from other open sources.

The death toll includes one law enforcer from Dagestan, two suspected members of the armed underground also in Dagestan, and three civilians – two in North Ossetia and one in Kabardino-Balkaria.

Attacks on law enforcers

On June 17, in the village of Babayurt, the Ensign Radjab Kazambiev, an employee of the Russian FSB for Dagestan, was killed in his house. The basic version of the murder is related to the service activity of the casualty.

Special and counterterrorist operations

On June 20, a resident of Dagestan Serazhulav Mutashev, earlier arrested for possession and distribution of huge amounts of drugs, was shot dead by policemen while trying to escape in Makhachkala. According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of Dagestan, Mutashev was brought in the drug clinic in Makhachkala for examination; and at that moment he tried to flee.

According to the lawyer, the incident in Makhachkala was "deliberately staged with the aim to liquidate him." According to his relatives, Serazhulav Mutashev was checked for his possible links with militants, and power agents planted drugs on him at detention.

Attacks on civilians

On June 23, three unidentified men tried to break into the house of Imam Magomed Aliev from the village of Kakhabroso, Untsukul District of Dagestan. A shootout burst out between the attackers and the people of the house. As a result, Magomed Aliev, his wife and son were wounded. One of the attackers, Magomedkhabib Abdullaev, a resident of the village of Gimry, was killed.

Kidnappings

On June 18, unidentified armed men in masks and camouflage beat Akhmed Kurbanmagomedov, a 25-year-old resident of the city of Izberbash, and took him to some unknown place, said his brother. The press service of the Dagestani MIA said that they knew nothing about the kidnapping.
