In Chechnya, case of a local, accused of calls to terrorism, sent to court
As stated by the local Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), Ramzan Abdrakhmanov, 20, a resident of the Urus-Martan District of Chechnya, will stand trial for his public calls to terror acts. The police say that this is the first case in Chechnya, when a person will face justice for committing such a crime.
According to a law enforcement official of Chechnya, the investigation has established that since 2011, in the mosques of the village of Alkhan-Yurt, Abdrakhmanov systematically encouraged young people to commit acts of terrorism against non-Muslims and approved actions of illegal armed formations (IAFs).
"This will be the first case in our republic, when the offender is brought before the court for committing such a crime," a police officer told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
In the opinion of the police, apart from calling to attack followers of other religions, Abdrakhmanov showed on his mobile phone videos of the warfare and preaching of Salafis calling for the "jihad against infidels." The young man was detained by power agents in winter this year. He may face up to five years in prison.
