Sesiashvili: After terror act in Afghanistan Georgia to step up home security

As stated by the spokesman of the Ministry of Defence (MoD), the families of the Georgian soldiers, who were killed by a suicide attack in Afghanistan, will receive assistance from the state. Experts offer to take further steps to ensure the safety of Georgian troops both within peacekeeping force and in the country itself.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that in the evening on June 6 it was reported about the death of six soldiers of the Georgian contingent of the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) in Afghanistan. According to Colonel Irakli Dzneladze, the Chief of the Joint Staff of the Georgian Armed Forces, the attack was carried out by a suicide bomber, who blew up a car stuffed with explosives.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was informed at the Parliamentary Committee for Defence and Security, the families of the dead soldiers and officers would receive compensations in the amount of 15,000 laris (9500 US dollars).

"As soon as all the technical issues are solved, the bodies of our militaries will be immediately airlifted from Afghanistan to Georgia," Irakli Sesiashvili, the Chairman of the above Committee, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. He noted that after the terror act, the general security measures in Georgia would be strengthened.

Let us remind you that shortly before the attack of the suicide bomber on Georgian servicemen, a video "Jihad against Georgian troops in Afghanistan" appeared on the YouTube video hosting.

According to Irakli Aladashvili, a military expert and the editor of the magazine "Arsenali", the recent frequented attacks on Georgian soldiers in Afghanistan are the result of the increasing of the Georgian contingent in the country.
