Advocates of relatives of Kizlyar casualties complain of receiving threats

The lawyers Sapiyat Magomedova and Musa Suslanov report about received threats and demands to refuse from representing the interests of relatives of Gamzatov brothers killed in Kizlyar. As reported by a source from the local MIA, the police are conducting a check of the lawyers' complaint.

Let us remind you that Magomed Gamzatov, a Deputy of the City Assembly, his brothers Osman, Yusup and Gazidibir, and his nephew Magomed Omarov were killed in a fight with firearms that occurred in Kizlyar on March 18. On March 19 and 21, their relatives blocked the Federal Highway Rostov-Baku, demanding resignation of the head of the Kizlyar District Andrei Vinogradov, whose securities, according to relatives, were involved in the armed incident.

On June 3, the advocates of the relatives of Gamzatov brothers killed in Kizlyar sent an appeal to the head of the Investigating Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF) Alexander Bastrykin asking him to take the resonant case under his control.

"The advocates have received repeated threats of physical violence, if we don't stop defending the interests of the victims in the criminal case," Musa Suslanov, one of the advocates, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

This, according to his story, on May 19, an SMS-message arrived at his mobile phone with threats and demand to stop defending the interests of the victims. The second advocate Sapiyat Magomedova has added that on May 20, an SMS-message with similar threats was sent to her mobile phone from the same telephone number.

A source from the Dagestani MIA said they were collecting facts about the threats addressed to the advocates.

Let us remind you that earlier the Amnesty International stated the existence of inadmissible atmosphere of threats and intimidation, in which lawyers have to work in Northern Caucasus.
