"Promzhilbaza" residents rely on Russian Ministry of Regional Development in solving their housing problems

The migrants from Chechnya living in the temporary accommodation centre (TAC) "Promzhilbaza" in the city of Karabulak, as well as in the private sector in districts of Ingushetia, have come to Moscow to meet officials of the Ministry of Regional Development of the Russian Federation and the Federal Migration Service. They hope that the meetings will speed up the solution of their housing problems.

On September 20-21, the forced migrants from Chechnya, who live in "Promzhilbaza" since 1999, held a hunger strike. It was discontinued in exchange for the promise of the Ingush authorities to assist in solving the housing problem, and the extension of refugee status.

"None of the promises made by Ingush authorities during the hunger strike was fulfilled," Malika Djakhaeva, a refugee from Chechnya, who arrived in Moscow, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to her story, refugees have been living in Ingushetia for more than 17 years and during all these years "they were deprived of normal life conditions, having to jostle in TACs."

Not a single housing certificate reaches those who really need apartments, said Aset Khadisova. "So far, we've received no help from the state."
